Fuel octane rating

I currently have a ’91 Formula 350 and run 87-89-octane pump gas. I haven’t had any problems with knocking. I don’t do any competition running and the engine is almost stock with the exception of headers. I am looking at a ’94 camaro with the LT-1 350. Can the LT-1 engine run on the regular pump gas (87-89 octane) or does it have to have premium (93 octane)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
