Hello, I have an 83 z28 with a stock metal hood, it has two indentations for simualted air intake, with two metal plates at the end, held on by two small nuts under the hood. I removed them, and it has metal under it, except for two small holes where the plate goes through it. Would these ideas work??, I figured you guys are pros, would appreciate any and all ideas. What if I cut a hole in back of the plate to let air come into engine compartment, and of course remove the plate under fair weather. Would this extra air circulate and keep the engine compartment cooler??, also, what if I put the hole there and attach two hoses under the hood that would channel the fresh air into the backside of the air cleaner housing(it already has two large air inducts in the front side from the factory. Would this direct air give me better performance/gas mileage????, or would it cause a problem with proper mixing of air/gas or ???/ I do not want to cause a problem, so will wait to here from someone who knows before doing anything. I know people put the fiberglass hoods with scoops for extra air, but that is expensive. I understand that some 82/83 z28s had some type of louvre there in the hood that opened and closed, but I understand it was for the cfi version, I have 4bbl, but why could it not work also on my version. Can you buy these movable louvres anywhere??? Appreciate any help or suggestions,
