Crazy theory/idea on MAF intake

OK, we all know that the MAF is a restriction. But if I'm not mistaken, at WOT, this sensor is not used. So here is my crazy idea:

Run a Y-pipe off the intake. One half is connected to the MAF, then to the filter, just like normal. The second half is connected to a solenoid activted throttle-body like blade, then to a filter. Under normal driving, the car would operate like normal, when you mash the pedal to WOT, a switch would activate the solenoid, allowing extra filtered air to come in. This would allow more CFM's then the MAF would normally be able to flow.

Is this a B.S. idea? Is this possible? I want everyone thoughts, ideas, or improvements.

It'd be a neat idea except the MAF is used at WOT.

Oh, I thought it wasn't used at WOT, I thought the ECM went into pre-programed open loop mode at WOT.

MAF is most assuredly used at WOT.

ed ed ed...

lol

Sorta hard to measure incoming air to meter fuel w/o a MAF at WOT....

considering WOT 5500 rpm and 2000 RPM will register very differnt gram/sec
