Well,. First off im pretty sure the SC production run stopped in 87, also SC's don't have any GFX.

But I could be wrong.

Sorry Bort...I also have an 88' SC 305 (was TBI) and yes...it has GFX...nice try again.
The SC was in 88 the only option other than IROC and therefore slightly inferior even with all the toys that came on them.
Mine came with every power option available and when I purchased it, only the signals worked. Everything has been fixed now including the electric hatch which pisses off so many people.
If the rest of the car looked decent (which it doesn't) I would post more pics. Been away from computer for past few weeks and missed this site

Mine is dark grey with light grey ground effects. It has the 305 TBI, 700-R4, and T-tops.

I used to have an 88 SC but it had the 2.8 MPFI and it also had white body with gray GFX. I bought it from a friend in New Jersey before I moved to Florida. I ended up trading it for a Cutlass (what a piece of junk) thanks to the wife.

All I gotta say is they did some weird transition type things that year. My buddy bought an 88 IROC, and when I looked under the hood, it had 305 TBI motor in it instead of a tuned port. I had always assumed all IROC's got the tuned port motors. Guess not huh?

The 1988 Sport Coupe was a unique animal. It is the only Sport Coupe with ground effects. It also came with the 1985 - 87 IROC-Z striping. Add to this the fact that late year Sport Coupes did not get the three-piece rear spoiler, it got the low-rise wing, another one-year only piece.

Right. A lot of guys make this assumption, which is not true. The standard engine for the 1985 - 87 IROC-Z's is the 305 carb (RPO LG4). For 1988 - 89, the 305 TBI (RPO L03) was standard. Only from 1990 - 92 is the 305 TPI (RPO LB9) the standard Z28/IROC-Z engine.

Umm, I'm pretty sure the 88's didn't have the 85-87 IROC striping... Z28 striping maybe, but not IROC. The IROC's were always single toned while the Z28 was two tone, then in 88 w/ the introduction of the SC w/ GFX that became 2 toned w/ the IROC staying single toned.

Side note... Kelly Blue Book seems to think there was a Camaro Coupe, RS Coupe, Convertible, IROC-Z, and IROC-Z vert. Wouldn't the regular Coupe and the RS be the same thing? The RS is worth about $100 more equally equipped...

As to the difference in the camaor and RS coupe...well, i don't know, but i do know that the RS was introduced as a california only model in 88 (?) then it became the base car in 89.

As to teh striping are you thinking of the right striping? I personally don't remember all the weird idiosyncharsies of the changes in stripes/decals cuz i know i could always search/ask a guy like ***** if i needed to. I believe he was refering to the stripe above the GFX (decal stripe) not whether the car was single toned. And that stripe changed subtly with the years depending on Z/IROC/base. And like i said, i'd believe willie

Out of curiousity, in 85-87, could one get a Camaro that was a Z28, but not an IROC-Z? I thought all Z28's were IROCs in this time period?

Yes, you could get a Z28 that wasn't an IROC from 85-87. From 88-90 there was no Z-28. Only IROCs.
