Anybody who know 3rdgen rear disc brakes please help....

How the heck do I compress the caliper pistons to pput the new pads on? I tried pressing them and no luck. They look like they might need to be screwed but I have no clue. They have little half circles going all around the outside of the pistons though. Please help.....thanks

I found it easiest to compress it while the caliper/pads were still on the rotor. A c-clamp will do the job. Try taking the master cylinder capoff to relive some pressure, maybe that'll help. Just don't leave it off for too long as brake fluid is a moisture magnet.

If they are the same ones as on my 84 they have to be rotated at the same time as pushed in. The hand brake has a ratcheting mechanism to adjust the rear brakes. Don't use just a clamp on them you will destroy them. There is a special tool to do it but with care you can do it without.

Cosmik is right...they screw in.

Spray the outside of the dust boot with WD40 before turning them in so you don't tear the boot.

Yes they have to be screwed in. There is a special tool made for this, BUT you can just use a pair of needle nose pliers to screw the piston in, while youre pushing at the same time. It takes some strength to do this, but it will work.
