I have been thinking for a while about pulling my 400 out of my bird and putting my 355 back in. What I have been thinking about doing is putting my 400 in a mustang body. (How how I can feel the evil looks right now). I know no one will like it in either camp. I can come up with a body for almost nothing. Plus it will only be a drag car. All right you may begin the flogging now.

Or you could just put a 460 in a Mustang and Go faster... ( and not be dumb )

Lol, the funniest part is stuff like this does happen from time to time (chevy engines in mustangs), seen a few myself.
I have never sen nor heard of someone swapping a ford engine into a GM product.

Add that to the 'which engine family has a stronger aftermarket' category...

That's a great idea, think about it. Say you just wooped a Mustang GT or Cobra and they're like what do you have in that car, and you can say a Chevy.

Every time someone puts a mustang engine in an F-body, Henry Ford rolls over in his grave.

Well guy's brace yourselfs! My dad use to slap 350's in broncos, very comon thing for him to do he probably has over a hundred of these converions under his belt. When I lived in Denver the guy that lived next to me was part of a huge mustang club. From the little get togathers at his house ive seen 350s' slaped in mustangs. They run very well and you can just tell by the exhaust note that its a chevy engine under the hood. Also one day at the junk yard I saw a fbird that was plasterd with FMS stickers, turns out it had a 460 in it. The truth is if I had the time and money I would slap a W/R fNord 5 speed in my camaro, I love those 5 speeds, But then there probably made by some company other than fNord just labeled fNord.

okay guys..I admit it...my car BEFORE the Camaro was a 79 Mercury Capri RS. It had a 350/350 combo. SUPER torquey. But burned oil BAD and spun 2 rod bearing. when I got my Camaro I sold it to a buddy for $500 CDN. He put his rebuilt 429 Cobrajet enigine into the rusty thing....the whole point....The car was WAY faster with the 350 HAHAH....but I have another 454 sitting here and I can get a rolling chassis Mustang for cheap with 4.10 gears and a rebuilt posi.....hmmm the possibilities

My welder and motorcycle mechanic has an 89 S-10 blazer 4X4, that I sold him with a blown 4.3. It now sports a built 289 ford hooked to the stock 700R4 and transfer case.

The adapter is made by Advanced Adapters. I asked them about it the last time I called them and they told me it was a very popular item. It seems that the ford boys like our trannys better.

That would be cool to take a bad *** thirdgen with a pimped out 11 sec 5.0 motor (easy to do with aftermarket for a FI 5.0) to a ford racing event..... Not only look better, but youd even be faster than most of them.

Why would you want to put a Ford engine in a GM car? That's just going to make the Ford guys think you believe Ford engines are better. The ultimate slam is the Chevy engine in the Ford body. Hell, it seems like almost every old Ford you see at a show or in a magazine has a Chevy engine in it. Actually, most people would probably tell you the ultimate hot rod is either a '32 or '34 Ford with a Chevy 350.

I just told the wife last night. She didn't like the idea at all. I got one of the "you waste all your money on that car(firebird) already your not getting something else" speach. Anyone want a wife cheap "OH YEA there all high maintenace" I guess I'll keep her.

What the hell are you talking about easy to build an 11 sec 5.0. My buddy's brother built a low 12/high 11s off the bottle mustang. Let's see, it only needed a 347 stroker kit, TFS heads and IIRC a saleen intake he picked up cheap. Now, exactly why wouldn't a 383 TFS headed SBC run the same/better for the same/less $$$? Oh yeah, that same high 11s 347 would probably be half a second slower in a typical porker thirdgen vs his stripped LX (granted it wa s ahatch, but still stripped) A stock short block L98 car can run with this example in a heavy stock bodied/non stripped thirdgen (TRAX)

The only cheaper part they have going is the intake for EFI, but if we're playing budget games a converted carb->EFI manifold will whoop plenty of *** for low $$$.

The 5.0 NA cars that run in the low 12s/high 11s are either radical to the bone or stripped to 2700lb or less race weight...

I am not going to argue with you, For the most part you are right about a 5.0 being a race car to get to 11's. BUT My good friends 93 cobra runs 11.40's, and the major lightening he has done is removed the back seat, but he has added a full 8pt cage in it. But I would guess you can say the $17,000 he has put into it over the past 3 years probably accounts for something, I would have to guess that amount of money in a 350 and you would be in the 9's.
