Torque setting for head

I have a 78 350 head that I am putting back on. Does anyone know the torque setting for this. Also I have a head gasket, but do I need to put any kind of silicone sealant on there too.

I believe it is 60-65 ft/lbs. Torque all the bolts in sequence to 20, then 40, then 60 ft/lbs. You need to use non-hardening thread sealer on the head bolts (I used ARP thread sealer but something like Loctite PST should work) or else you will leak antifreeze into your oil.

What is the sequence of tightening the bolts?

A haynes manual will tell you that (along with all the torque values). It's the reason I have mine.

If your using used bolts, they stretch and you'll have to gauge them. best bet is buy a set of ARP head bolts.
