My LG4's finally coming to life!

When I first got the car the float was set...waaaay off. The car had 80,000 miles on it so I decided to rebuild the carb. Replaced the gaskets, accel pump, MCS, TPS, needle/pin, and the springs. I currently have an assortment of hangers/rods on the way so in about a week it should be running good. After the carbs done then next will be exhaust. And after that I'll install some Tourqer 305 heads and a 262XE cam. Along with that I'm going to install a Holley 600cfm DP and a Performer intake. Should be a decent motor when it's finished. I've decided to build the 305 instead of dropping a 350 because I want to be able to tell people it's an LG4.

(Although in about 5 years I'm going to drop a rat in it. )

Go ahead with the Performer, but forget the Holley. Not worth it $'s/HP (you need to replace the distributor, too), and you live in an emissions area. The cam may give you some trouble, but probably not if everything else is in good shape. Since you've already worked the q-jet, it'll give you everything you want out of the Holley and then some.

Otherwise, I think you're on the right track. Obviously, you aren't going to get any objections from me for building a 305...

With the heads and the cam will I be able to use the stock ECM without any trouble or will I need to get a new chip?

Once you ditch the carb or intake, or heads or cam, its technically no longer an "LG4" but for that matter, I put TPI on my LG4 longblock (the cam and heads are still stock LG4) and w/ the cheap mods in the sig, and I can "hang" w/ alot of the stock 350s. However, I will be ditching 305, just thought I would throw my "LG4" story in there.
