starting problem
ok today i went out to start my car and i turned the key and i got this reving noise, like something wasnt engaging, but then i truned the key a second time and the car started up fine. I think it is either the starter or the solenoid.
what do you guys think?

sounds like a bad solenoid. I would just get the whole thing. some times the bendix on the starter gets stuck as well (what the solenoid throws out)

By getting the whole thing, you mean go buy a new solenoid and not one of those repair kits? also, that whole bendix getting stuck thing, would replacing the solenoid fix that?

i think he means a whole new starter. Which is what you should do. Take your starter to NAPA, tell them that you want an LT1 starter, give them yours, fork over another 90 bucks or so, and you now have a mini starter that'll spin your engine real fast, and not be prone to heat soaking
Or just go get a stock replacement, whatever works. I think before they charged me for the core, it was like 60 bucks for my stock replacement starter.

The solenoid is attached to your starter. It's really cheaper in the end for you to take the whole starter assembly in and get a new one.
Heat soaking is when your exhaust gets a little too close to your starter, and the resistance in the wires to the starter goes up from the heat, so you cant start the car with the starter until it cools down.
