i know this seems like a trick question but its not... with my old 305 with a 4Qt pan it held 4.7 Qt's according to mr.lube..... just wanted to know if any one knew the exact number for a 7Qt pan.

you need to factor in the oil filter also thats what makes up the differance in the total amount. so if your using a 1/2 quart filter it would be 7.5 quarts. make a reference of where the oil level is on the stick. start car and than recheck oil level and add to reference mark. than take a note of how many quarts it took.

My canton pan is 7 qt. I called them for exact info. The say with smaller filter 7 qts total. I would check with pan manufacturer to see if it is pan capacity or total capacity. Canton's is total capacity.
