AC, it went from bad to worse

AC, it went from bad to worse
My ac was kinda cool(at night), comprsor worked, the metal thing would get cold, my friend added a can of freon, it sucked it all up, the temp before was around 50 now its around 60, do i just have the system evacuated or what???

Couple o' things...
One, was the can held upside down? If not, none of the freon got into the system...
Two, was it the right kind of freon? I.E., did you put R134a freon into a R12 system because it was cheaper?
None of these were meant as flames.

Transmission: sure does
When a system gets overfilled, it will start to cool worse.
