Which cam? Buildup Q's...
Well, the 350 plan is finally piecing itself together, I managed to locae a worthy block sans intake & carb.
The heads are 882's, /w flattops. Yeah, yeah I know, but I'm planning this thing in stages, once traction & suspension woes are dealt with and I can actually USE the power, then these will be the first to go.
The cam in there right now: A "modern" grind of the old 350/327ci cam. Now before RB craps himself, the specs are a little different than the orignal, :
intake exhaust
lift .450 .460
adv dur 288 292
dur.50 224 224
ground on a 114 lobe sep.
While the block is hanging around, should I bother swapping this with (would I happier with?) a Comp XE262. Lift is close to the same, the duration is close to the same with a little less on the intake, but the advertised duration is of course quite a bit less.
I am shooting for a 325 crank HP car that is daily driven 6+ months of the year, never taken to the track, but driven.. uhmm, agressively at times. =) Oh, the intake will be a performer RPM Qjet. The Qjet has already been tweaked with.
The entire cam kit up here, including springs, locks retainers timing chain etc. is aroud $450cdn. Yes, it sucks.
Bottom line is, is it worth it? ($$/HP) Or just leave it as is? Will there big a signifcant boost/flattening of the torque curve, or not enough to make a diff?
Thanks to everyone in advance.
Later,
Hype.
