Blown Head Gasket?

I went to pull this engine out and when I drained the radiator there was some oil mixed in with the anti-freeze. Does anybody know any tests I can run myself to find out if I have a blown head gasket, cracked head or a cracked block? I don't want to pay to have it done if I don't have to!! Thanks

Compression test or leak down test. Could also be the intake leaking. Any signs of oil or coolant around the edges of the intake?

Thanks for the reply. No coolant around intake. I already did a compression test, but I'm not sure about the results. After turning the engine over with all the spark plugs out, every cylinder got up to 150 psi. Is this good. What would happen with this test if I had a blown head gasket? Won't a leak down test only tell me the condition of the combustion chamber? Is there a test I can run for the water jackets/ coolant passages?

Well if your compression test had all values close to 150 then the head gasket is not leaking all the way into a cyl at least. It could still be leaking between an oil passage and coolant passage tho. You can also presssure test the cooling system but all it will tell you is it's leaking. You already know something is leaking and nothing visiable exteranally.

How about the oil, any coolant in it? Foamy scum on the dipstick is a tell tale sign.

This is an engine you pulled right? If it were in a car you could run it and do dye tests ect. Since it is out start tearing her down looking for cracks, leaky gaskets ect. hopefully it's just a intake leak or head gasket.
