6.0 head swap help
The 6.0 head swap is getting a set of cylinder heads from a 6.0 liter pickup truck, they are aluminum like the LS1 head, but have the same intake and exhaust ports as the LS6 Z06 heads, but you can pick em up for like $300 bucks compared to the LS6 head will cost you around 1200. The drop your compression ratio to 9.3:1 but you can have the heads shaved down to bring the compression back up. My question is where can I go to get this done? I also want to know what the right compression ratio is or how much I should shave them. lastly, does anyone know where I can get these heads?

Those heads won't fit a third gen, unless it has a LS1 type motor in it.

Does LA mean you're in Los Angeles or Louisiana?
If you're in the Los Angeles area, I can recommend a good machine shop in the area that handles a lot of racing orders. He's an expert with GM engines.

it does stand for Los Angeles, I just fixed it. Actually I am new to LA, so any shops you could suggest would be great, I still don't completely know my way around. do you know of a few good junkyards too, one where I might be able to find these heads fo instance? do you recommend any mechanics( I am looking into an ls1, manual 6 speed tranny and rearend swap)? thanks

The 6.0 heads you are looking for come in the 2000 and up Chevy/GMC 2500's. Don't mess with the 99 and early 2000 heads. they are cast iron. Patriot performance remanufactures the 6.0 heads with updated parts as well.
