.045 would be good, or a good place to start

Agreed, .045 will work fine. You can probably open them up some, depending on how much compression you are running in the motor.

If you're running boost or nitrous that all goes out the window and I gap them down under .040 even if your ignition is fortified with Vitamin MSD.

I run the R44LTS plugs in my LT1, which in my case should still be seeing around 10.5:1 compression. I've got an MSD digital 6 with the GM blaster coil for late model (the direct LT1 replacement coil from MSD) I have no trouble running a gap of .060.

I have read though that the gap between the rotor and contacts in the opti is actually tighter than a typical distributor though so you might have to back it off some. I'd certainly close the gap some if you're running nitrous.

hmm smaller gap for nitrous you say, thats the first I have heard of that, Would .35 be to small with the nitrous?? I plan on getting the Edelbrock performer kit and keeping it to a 50-75 shot max, I don't want to hurt the motor at all.. Thanks guys
