1984 - Electro-Mechanical Fuel Delivery?

My 84 camaro has a spot in the fues box for an electric fuel pump fuse, there is no fuse in there. I know my 83 Crossfire has an electric one in the tank, does my 84 have a mechanical and an electric?

Usually, it's an either / or thing.

Didn't a couple Z28's have an electric in the tank and a mechanical up front? I coulda sworn I heard that somewhere...

But most likely, it was just GM re-using the fuse box.

Your 83 should have just the mechanical pump. AFAIK, GM didn't start the joint pump operation (mechanical primary pump and electrical in-tank helper) in 86, to help alleviate the issue of vapor lock.

my 83 CFI only has an electric.
my 84 carbed has a mechanical with a Fuel Pump fuse.

I figure it is just GM reusing the fuse box, but i did hear of an electro-mechanical fuel system on these cars, so i figured mabe all this time i could have been takin advantage of 2 pumps and the previous owner just never put the fuse in the box.

GM is cheap when it comes to design, one fuse box fits all which isnt really a cheap thing but more of a cost effective solution. My 82 even has a spot for the fuse.

My 84 Z28 does have an intank pump so it may have been serviced for the vapor lock problem or came with it from the factory. I do know it wont do the job by itself but at least it gave me a nice wire harness to tap into for the rotary pump.
