how do i torque down the knock sensor on 350 tpi motor
You are supposed to torque it to 14 ft. lbs.(19 nm) using a torque wrench. The knock sensor is easy to torque though, as it is on the passenger side of the block, near the oil pan. It is easiest to do this by jacking the car up and crawling underneath. You can look at about the middle of the block and it'll be right there. Carefull though, the sensor is located on a water jacket. You are supposed to drain your coolant before changing the sensor.

torque it using a wrench. just put the wrench on it and feel when it stops turning easy. a touch after that and your fine. not everything needs a torque wrench behind it.

i read somewhere that judt hand tightning the knock sensor can offer a little better performance. how is this true. does it make the sensor less sensitive to picking up knock so the ecm doesnt retard timing?
