Battery Dead after 11 hrs of key on. Normal?

I left the key in the ignition after I was checking the tps last night, and this morning, 11 hrs later the battery is totally dead. Is this normal, or is there possibly something taking battery power that shouldn't? I notived when I had the key on, there was a constant soft whine coming from somewhere in the engine. My main code lately is a 53 (system voltage high).

Dead batt after 11 hrs normal ? Can I trickle charge it to get back to life or is it permnanently dead ?

Thanks,
Mr Absent-minded

all i did was jump the car and drive it 120 miles...

i would just slow charge it... and it should be OK...

You learned the hard way why there is an "OFF" position for the key. Things like the ECM, coil, voltage regulator, radio, and who knows what else I am missing draw all sorts of current with the key on.

Totally normal.

Thanks. A local parts store / garage is keeping it overnight to put a charge on it. Should be back to 12 volts tomorrow.

you took it somewhere? And you paid money, damn your stupid. Go buy a battery re-charger for 15 bucks. You never know when you'll need it. Good investment.

Nice tude there dude. Where exactly did he say he was paying? I hope you just assumed yourself into the position.

Where I worked at quite often we charged batteries for free. Customer PR thing.
