Basic questions
Yeah the ATK 350 LT motor after cleanup turned out to be a ATK 305 2 bolt. Either way since she is a relatively small engine, I am still gonna build her and maybe sell her. The engine is as follows:
1980-85 305cid small block w/ a 2 bolt main
442 cast gm crank
gm cast connecting rods
stock cam
dual timing chains
v-belt system
cast iron heads with 1.5 pressed rockers
and some other worthless parts internally the bottom end is extremely clean, the top end is disgusting and I am cleaning it.
It orginally cam with a 4 barrel though i plan to TPI it.
Is there anyway to determine the lift, duration and lobe seperation of this cam. Despite what some may think i have some idea what i am doing. And i have help. Does anyone know how to identify the cam. It was put into a 1983 Pontiac Bonneville, but i dont know if it came from the same type of car. Thanks for any help.

my dad bought it for my grandfather in 92' when the old 305 in the pontiac died. "I think the warranty is up", either way he said the price for the 350 and the 305 were the same. And that he ordered the 350, apparently he didn't get what he asked for and that link atk.com doesn't work .

ATK - Off Topic
This is way off topic, but I think most people's ATK experiences are bad ones - including mine. Fortunately, it wasn't my money but the company I worked for was out the cost of the ATK engine and its replacement.
The little VW diesel leaked oil out the rear main from day one. They told me to bring it to a VW dealer and have them dump UV dye in the crankcase and let the dealer verify where the leak was coming from. More than one VW dealer flatly refused to deal with me once they found out ATK was involved. Once the leak location was verified, ATK authorized repairs and told me to send in the dye covered parts, which I did.
Three weeks later, I had to call them to ask about cutting us a check and they flat out denied any reimbursement. They told me that there was no dye on any of the parts I had returned (the dealer showed me the dye covering the back of the engine and all over the clutch before work began).
When the engine hit around 8k miles, the engine appeared to have blown a head gasket. Turned out there was casting flaw in the block that the boring operation exposed and subsequent mileage wore a hole in the jacket.
I hope you have better luck than I did.

i dont have to worry about the block or the heads gm made them, its a rebuilt engine. If thats the case then its the crankcase.
But i have the engine down to the bare heads, and the oil pan is off. Though they did use cheap cast parts which are still gm, the bottom end is in beautiful condition, the top end is a disgrace and its going back to NY to be steam cleaned,

if you plan to sell this motor later, dont bother modding it. No one wants to BUY a 305. Most the guys here w/ 305s are upping to 350s.
If you already have the motor taken apart, and need it to run your car, then put it back together, and put it back in. Or try to part it out (what you can... some people will pay good money on here for 416 casting heads), and get yourself a real 350.

how much you think i could for them, anyway, i would probably make more money off parts, motor has about 10K miles on it.
If i do parts it out which would be easy, i have fully assembled 416's, 3rdgen starter, older egr system, air pump, water pump, power steering pump, i threw out the wires and the fan. The bottom end is actually still shiny. And an old style distributor, with a coil in the cap. any ideas on the prices. and how much for a fully assembled block. thanks
