But yea, my 305 is nearing 200,000 and my grandfather's/my '88 Chevy Silverado 1500 is up to at least 260,000 on the original 350. and get this. My grandfather bought the truck knew and noone has ever changed the oil in this truck but him save one time.

So just keep the oil changed and try to stop the smoke and it should last you a year (I would think)

What's with everybody second time i have said it today tensioner pulley........................ I have a pick up with the same problem 350,000 miles, but to lazy to fix it

if you'd notice, he has an 86' with a v-belt setup (well, actually, it's a serp/v-belt combo, but is setup just like the earlier v-belts) and has NO tensioner. and the next time you have a suggestion for just ONE person, make sure you utilize the PM feature.

heh, so lemme get this straight, someone's saying that it's "OK" to not change your oil but once a year because their uncle hasn't changed the oil except once in having the car like 20 years?

lol.

As for the squeeling, that can be caused by just about any of the pullies, or any of the belts. Just because something is wrong with YOUR car that fits the description, doesnt mean that it has the same end-diagnosis results. I hate it when people do that "Yeah, your idle problem is because of a bad spark plug, because that's what my car is doing, I just havent got around to changing them"

that's fine dude, but make sure whenever your making suggestions, that you suggest it without sounding so matter-of-factly. that way you don't come across like a know-it-all.

anyhow, there is no reason for this thread to stay open, so....can we get a lock?
