Bowtie heads are GM Performance Parts heads based on the old camel hump design. THey are intended for racers who have to use "stock" heads.

However... GM has just released some Bowtie Vortec heads that are said to be a good improvement over the stock vortecs. They can run up to .530 valve lift with no mods, have screw-in studs, 175cc runners and can accept centerbolt or perimiter bolt valve covers.

Unfortunately, I can't find a damned thing that talks about their horsepower potential and what kind of porting/cleanup they need compared to stock vortec castings.

bowtie heads are any number of racing/performance heads made by gm. i used to have a pair of phase 6 bowties. there are charts all over the net that show you what they are. here's one:

Jim The 180cc Vortech Bowtie Heads out of the Box on average. flow 236 at .500 lift. with a mild clean up job they go about 250 or a little more at .500. The exhaust stock will come in around 160 at .500 lift

The Bow Ties are good Heads. The raised runner Bow tie head will flow 300+ at .500 and up with port work
