name that connector

I just noticed a really oily connector that looks like it has never been plugged into anything. I found it when I took my intake manifold out, it was sitting right behind the AIR pipe that goes around the back of the engine. It looks just like the connector that goes into the TPS but it has only two prongs. It is draped over the back of the block toward the drivers side. What is it?

Only connectors back there I can think of that has 2 wires and is TPS style is the EGR solenoid connector and the extension for the MAT. Pink and black wires running to it, or brown(or tan) and black.

If its a bit longer I think it could be the VSS for the transmission.

I didn't know there was a MAT extension, but the wires are orange and brown(maybe black?). It isn't to the egr solenoid. Its pretty dark so I can't see it all that well. Im pretty sure it isn't the VSS for the tranny, I think I saw that it was plugged in last time I was under the car. Wouldn't that cause some problem, anyway? Thanks for the help, hopefully I can find somewhere to plug it in =p

Just curious, did your oil pressure gauge ever work before?

i had a couple of them in my 87 305tpi, they did not goto anything, i was all worried about it and asked a GM tech and he said they were for diagnostics. weather or not they were i was just concerned i forgot to hook something up. but i didnt. they could be for options you dont have in your car, or like the guy told me...diagnostics. as long as you hook up up what you took off you should be fine
