Noticed something today... BAD.
Okay if you read in Car Audio, my cd player was just stolen on friday night/saturday morning. I was washing my car today and I noticed a HUGE UGLY DENT in the passenger side door. Its new definitely. It looks like someone mighta kicked it, because its pretty big. I'm calling the cops to add that to the report (ooh vandalism AND theft! Thats a felony!). But anyways, it LOOKS fixable but I dont wanna TRY, and risk it cracking the paint. Any suggestions?

Are there creases in the metal? If so, then it'll never (unfortunately) come out by just pulling.
But if not you can try a small plunger. Like the ones they make for kitchen sinks. Just tape a pillow to your butt and pull like hell!!!!!!
LOL HEHE!!! I did it once on an old Nova I had once. It worked pretty well, and that was a dent with creases.
As far as the paint cracking, just let that side of the car sit in the sunlight for about an hour. It'll warm it up enough to make it a little pliable. If the paint was gonna crack, then it would have happened already (and probably has).
Good luck

I would suggest paying someone to fix it. You don't want to screw it up, I wouldn't trust myself with that. I have heard that you can pull it too far and have to hammer it. Also heard of drilling a hole in it and using some tool to pull on it, then sealing up the hole and painting it. Either way, I'd be scared to do it myself.
If my car is parked, and in my yard, and damage happens to it, do my insurance rates still go up if i claim?

I highly doubt it, I'd imagine they'd treat it like a hit & run, just pay for the reparis minus your deductable...actually since it's vandalism, they will probably cover the whole thing.
From what I understand, the rates only go up when repeated incidents occur...still BS since it's not your fault people are ******, but that's how they work.
Frankly, I think the whole idea of requiring insurance (especially when they're so stingy when things happen) is a crock. When you pay over $100/month for coverage for 5 years, then something happens and you get a whopping $600 to pay for a $1100 repair cause some hillbilly backed his ford into you and took off, all I have to say is BULL$HIT!! Anyway, it feels good to vent, sorry, on with the topic, and sorry 'bout your car.

Or like Blue said, they will call you a "high risk customer" and charge you more. Even though you didn't cause the whole mess. Too many people guilty of insurance fraud causes insurance companies to act this way. But we get to pay for it. Nice, huh?
