Weird Timing
Weird Timing
For some reason, my car will not idle under 12 degrees advance. I have it set at 12 initial and 35 total degrees with the vaccum advance unplugged. when I move the distributor under 12 initial, the motor dies. I know I have a good size vaccum leak from my brake booster because I can press the brakes and the idle jumps up about 200 rpms. Could the leak have something to do with the timing? The tab seems to be right because when I put the #1 piston on TDC, the mark was on "0". The car runs perfect, but was just curious why it won't idle under 12 degrees advance. Heres whats been done to the motor in case you need this info:
350 +.040
290/ .460 lift cam
stock vortec heads
performer intake
demon 625 carb
10:1 compression
HEI distributor
Any insight would be helpful!!!!
Thanks again,
