What kind of theory can you come up with ?
My engine started having excessive "blow by" after installing new spark plug wires and strange detonation sounds that could be heard inside the combustion chambers. I thought my timing or fuel was off in the chip when it was doing this for about a month or so. Today I decided to rip it all apart and took off the whole TPI including the intake. While I was taking off the wires I noticed number 3 and number 5 cylinders were crossed!!! I guess this is what I was hearing inside the chambers! No wonder I could barely beat a stock 2001 5 speed GT. LOL I know my car is faster then that! Anyway... There's a lot of evidence of oil in the intake runners, the head runners and even a little on the plugs. With all that blowby a lot of oil "mist" was sucked in by the PCV valve. Is there some sort of theory that would make me believe that I dont have bad rings and that the fact that number 3 and number 5 were crossed could have caused this ? I have a very weak seal at the bottom of the intake gaskets and no amount of RTV seals it. Could it be that some of the gases that were meant for the exahust port, found their way UP the head runner and excape through the bottom of the gasket into the lifter valley and cause all that blowby and crankcase pressure ? What do you think ?

How many miles on your car? Did you "uncross" the wires and see if it ran correctly before tearing it down? If you didn't, it seems like a compression test is in order or just reassemble and see if it's ok. There's gotta be a way to seal that intake correctly - what's making it so weak?
