reinstalling heads

im putting the heads back on tonight, and i just want to know im not messing it up by picking the wrong bolt sealant. the only thing i have in my garage for sealant is "hi tack". is that stuff good for sealing head bolts? i always say the best way to learn is the hard way.... but i dont really want to learn this lesson more than once...

thanx

i use liquid teflon and that seems to be the prefered sealer for head bolts. i have used the non harding permatex in a tube and the permatex in a can with a brush in the lid, but as far as i can see nothing is better than liquid teflon sealer.

Yup, liquid teflon has worked the best for me. I've also seen RTV used but I still prefer the liquid teflon.

cool, thanx....

one more thing.... do the rocker arm retaining bolts have to be torqued? or just tight enough so the rocker arms dont move from side to side?

Uhh.... They are nuts, and you need to tighten them untill the proper "lash" is set. I say "lash" even though its really "preload" since it has hydraulic lifters.
