Cruise Control Delete Gear??

Hello.

I need help with a part. I read a post here a while back that gave a napa part number for a "coupler" that will connect the speedo cable and tranny cable together so the speedometer will work without the cruise transducer. I have a '82 TA and I no longer have the cruise transducer. Rather than piece it all togher I would like to just get this part that basically does the same thing as the transducer, minus the cruise function. Before you go and tell me to just buy a longer speedo cable, I'd rather get the coupling device right now for a quick fix. Unless my cables are actually worn, replacing them is a last resort. IF anyone knows what I'm talking about or has the part number I could appreciate it. I've been searching for a couple hours on here and kind find the thread!

Cruise control is very nice to have I would just pick up another unit personally.

They make an adaptor to fix or splice two cables togather but I dont know what the # is. You might consider just replacing the entire cable upto the the speedo head. They sell universal replacment cables for $10 in the help sections in most parts stores.

yah, I got ahold of a guy on this board a while ago. He said he had some Firebirds he was going to part out. He had an '82 and I told him I wanted all of the cruise control parts. Last I heard from him he said he got them out for me, but I haven't been able to get ahold of him since. I was going to just hook it back up again.

That's not what he's talking about. The cruise control govenor is under the hood up by the front driver's side corner.

What you have there looks like a vehicle speed sensor. I've never seen one like that, I would guess it is some sort of aftermarket piece for some type of add-on cruise control or computer of some sort.

I've seen those before. They are special speed sensors for vehicles that run SBC fuel injection that require an electronic VSS, yet at the same time have a cable-driven speedo in the dash. That part allows the ECM to receive input on the vehicle's speed, without having the requirement of converting a mechanical speedo to an electronic version.

Its like a yellow sensor that has braided wires going into this thing called electronic transmission module, the module has sensitivy adjustments for who knows what and has power and engagement lights? I bypassed it cuz the smaller speedo cable snapped and couldnt find an replacement, still it works without it hooked up.
