Re: Arm and a Leg for a IROC
The board will not let me post anymore to the topic so here is my 2 cents
One thing with IROC's is finding one that has not been ragged out and has a nice interior. During the mid 90's IROC's where cheap and every kid who had $3K or parents w/$ got one and usually wrapped it around some tree, but now since so many have gone to the grave people are starting to realize their collectability. I have a '88 IROC-Z, see sig. for details and I bought it from the original owner for $5,800. She was a lady and the body and interior where almost in mint condition even though it had over 100K miles on it. The only problem has been the car was mechanically neglected. When I went to change the spark plug wires they literally crumbled in my hands.
An IROC is like any special series of cars, weather it be 1LE's, GTA's, SS's, Grand Nationals, WS-6's, etc. If they dont make it anymore, it will always be worth a little or alot more than a car they still make that is not a special model package.
Some of the things that can make IROC's even more valuable is if they have more desireable option combinations. Like my car has a 350 TPI, G92 rear end, 4-wheel disc brakes, its a hardtop, with black interior, but it has rear defrost delete, no power mirror or power seat. Basically the car has all the performance options you could get with out going to the 1LE pkg. So its kinda unique, everything you want to go fast and everything you dont that could add weight, except for A/C but I live in TX so I need it. I have never had my car appraised or looked up its value, I just know that I like it and when people see an ALL stock IROC w/a mint black interior at the cruise nights I go to they all say WOW, that right there is worth alot $ to me.
Just my thoughts and opinions

Poor college student(donations welcome ;0) with an all stock 1988 5.7L IROC-Z Hardtop, Auto. trans, white ext. w/gold accents (soon to be silver), black custom cloth interior, 4-wheel discs and G92 pkg. Car is dead stock. Has only standard Z28 power options and all the IROC performance stuff you could get. No pwr. seats, mirrors, or rear defrost.
Best run: 1/4 14.90 @ 92.7 MPH

I did not post 4 times. I just checked the other post, none of my responses are there. I have DSL connection and I know the page is refreshing.
