What have I done to deserve this?

Oh no. Finally after so much hard work with new exhaust, my car has been running fine for a week with the mods in my sig, and a new o2 sensor. It was not even pulling any codes. I go to start my car today and it sounds so sick. I had to shell out $65 to have it towed. Its not the battery, and doesn't sound like a bad starter. Where should I start? Maybe a bad alternator? Possibly the flywheel is the culprit. It has cracked before and been replaced. Help me please.

You may want to start by listing the symptoms..."sounding so sick" really isn't much to go by.

I/e "I turn the key and it makes a grinding noise and won't start" or "I start the car and there is a clanking coming from the front of the motor".

Post up some more info, you'll get some replies.

Wish I could be more specific. I've never heard it like this before. What I can say is that its not power loss like a dead battery. There is no clicking or high pitch grinding. This leads me to believe its not the starter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if it were the alternator, it would start and then quickly die right. Could it be a bad fuel pump? I'll check for burnt wires in the morning too.

Okay, I'll ask the questions, and you can answer them

Does the engine turn over when you try to start the car?

If not, do the lights and accessories work?

If so, then turn the inside lights on, and headlights (if you have it pointed at a wall where you can see them burn into) and try to start the car. Do the lights dim? If not the starter motor is not getting power, if they do dim, the the starter motor is getting power but is not spinning.

Now let's assume none of the above pertains to you....so...

You turn the key, and the engine spins over and it does not fire off, or try to run?

If so, you need to check for spark, pull a plug wire and hold it about a 1/2 inch from the head, and have someone turn the key to start. Is there spark?

My fingers are getting tired, I'll check back tomorrow morning
