I have an '85 305 SB chevy that has been running about 235-240* this summer where last summer it ran 190*. I have only driven the car less than 2000 miles so it cannot be worn out. I have changed the T'stat, both fans come on at 190 or when the AC is on, I have all my air dams/deflectors in place and there is no obstruction between the condenser and radiator. I also have 60/40 water-antifreeze in the rad. and the engine oil is fresh.

What I want to know is: Can the water pump be going bad and not have the little "tell-tale" leak at the bottom of the pump?

Yes, they can be bad without leaking at the weep hole.

I've seen them come in rattling and the pulley wobbled but no leak...
