What's a good cat for passing emissions?

I failed emissions recently, so i'm going to replace my cat. I was going to order a catco but I saw an old post that said they sucked for emissions.

Beats me... a cat is a cat... there is kinda only one way to build them... as long as it's called a catalytic converter, it'll work.

To answer your question better... a few people here are passing Cali emmisions with them right now.

I have a Catco and I passed emissions with flying colors. Random Tech is really nice but kinda pricey. And a cat is not a cat in my eyes but I am sure some people will tell me differently. But some cats flow better than others and restrict the exhaust less than others.

Hot Rod ran a test a while back with a different catalytic converters and who had the best ones? GM. The stock catalytic converters are the best at cleaning the exhaust. They are also the most restrictive. So go with an after-market cat and hope for the best. If you flunk just add another aftermarket cat.

I failed illinios emmitions with a gutted cat, so I had a Walker hi flow put on. It was fairly cheap, sounds great (as loud as gutted), and the engine runs smoother. I passed with flying colors after the cat was put on.
Good Luck!!
