Have problem w/ belt being too small. HELP!

I just removed the smog equipment and I went and bought a belt but the belt was too small. I got a 96.8" belt and it is almost 2" too short. What should I do. I didnt but the Dayco belt but the length was the same. What size do you guys think I need. Should I look for the Dayco belt or go with the size that the 968k6 converts too or what? Please help I am trying to get this thing back together. Thanks in advance for the help.

I recommend NAPA Auto Parts if there is one near you. I had a similar problem with a
Cavalier, and they had a serpentine belt that
was a perfect fit.

Are you having a person pull out the tensioner when you try to put it on? That can take up the slack of several inches, or cause an innacurate measurement if not pulled out a little.

Are you sure you are routing it correctly with the smog pump removed?

The belt is for my car, I couln't remember my password last night.

We bought a 96 5/8" belt from NAPA and it doesn't fit, even after pulling the tensioner back.

Yes the smog is now deleted, WTF do I do now??

Well, the belt size at NAPA that worked was actually 97 1/4" long, but that is the size that came up under 968k6 part number.

At least she runs again...

968k6 is 96.8" long and 6 ribs wide.

Serpentines are easy to get belt sizes if you have a helper, you just need a long string and just wrap it around the pulleys like you wanna route the belt, then have your helper hold the tensioner in the right spot, and you have your length.
