Geez, I sure hope you don't talk TO you friends the way you talk ABOUT them.
I just hate it when I have friends do things for free, and they mess it up.

This is off topic, but I thought a quadrapalegic is paralyzed from the neck down, you said you have special hand controls, just wondering, please don't take offense.
There are many levels of quads cgristopher reeves being one of the highest levels he must use a ventalator much of the time and can only move his head. I am very very fortunate in that my level is c6 c7 i'm paralized from about the nipples down however I cannot move my fingers I can move my arms and wrists. Over the years I have developed good upper body control took alot of practice! I'm never offended by questions, but i get offended when people just stare i'd rather they ask questions.
I didn't mean to sound bitter i'm not, just frustrated. before i was paralized I worked on every car i had. And was quite good at it should of seen my 74 charger with a built 440 man that car had torque! well any way sorry for going on a rant. So back to my question any one know of a good shop in kc area! that is good with our beloved third gen f-bodies?

We all need to do that sometimes. I wasn't trying to preach and I don't know what it's like to be paralyzed. I just know that in the same way we all need to vent, we all need people who care to help us contain ourselves once again. Good luck with your beloved.
I'm nowhere near Kansas really, but my dad's a paraplegic and has the hand controls as well. He's got a GMC full-sized van with a 400ci engine in it.. heh.. That thing flies for being so big. ANYways, he's always having me do things as well... I suppose it's just fortunate I know something about cars. As for your friends... Perhaps you should make some that really DO know what they're doing?

High,
Attitudes, frustrations, and friends aside, I can't give you a specific recomendation. What I can tell you is that you'll get what you pay for. At a minimum, find a mechanic that is ASE certified. Many shops hunt to hire a mechanic that has been certified so they can fly the banner in their advertisements, but make sure the certified mechanic works on your car.
One place that is generally safe is a dealer service department. I say "safe" instead of "best" because you won't always find the best staff there. But if there is a problem with whatever service you get, there is a huge support network and plenty of resources to make things right. Most dealer service departments have certified mechanics, both ASE and GM certified.
One distinct advantage that you have is that you have some knowledge of what's going on. You are a lot less likely to be misled or enticed into paying for anything you don't need. And if you have a specific concern you should be able to talk with the mechanic in a language that he or she understands.
Too bad you're not in Georgia - I know of a dealership where you can get the finest in ThirdGen service.

The "Georgia" thing was a reference to GM Tech. If I were in need of a mechanic, I'd be looking for a shop with a guy like that and pay whatever he asked. Too bad all shops don't have that kind of integrity.

Highhat...
Ok, this might be a really crazy couple of ideas, but they are something to consider.
How about your local highschool or tech schools??
Taking into account your situation they might be willing to help you out and they would be learning at the same time. Plus they might not charge as much or at all.
Or again using the school thing...
Go to the school and ask if you can place a ad on their info board asking for mech work.
You could see if anyone there has a 3rd gen and ask that person.
Don't rule out these young kids wanting to learn, but not having the money to learn with.
Any one who likes to work on cars or who is learning to work on cars needs all the different experiences they can come across. And since you would be paying for the parts and something to them I think it would be a win win situation.
Again you would have to screen the applicants and find someone to your liking.
you could also run an ad in the local paper and say something like looking for a contract mechanic specializing in 3rd gen f-body cars.
Contract meaing you only pay them for work performed and not on a hourly basis and they would not think it's a hourly job as well.
Well, that's all I can think of even if it was a bad idea.

I can second the dealer idea. I used to work there as a mechanic, and they have the resources to fit those things right, and if not, plenty of support is nearby to make that happen. I wish I could help you, but unfortunatly in in Tallahassee, FL.
Sunbitz: how's thing's in Lancaster? Used to live in and around there...I miss all the speedshops out there. All the open empty roads around Ave A-H. R&E racing used to be pretty decent back then...heard they're big now...LACR...I wanna cry...ain't nuthin out here...

Things are HOT out here in Lancaster. Had a nice comfy 103° today with a heart stopping 22% humidity! It was flat murder!
It's still quite empty out there between ave A-H and those roads are long straight and nobody around for miles.
I hear the kids out there on Ave G street racing every now and then.
I live on Ave I about a mile East of the Fairgrounds.
Strange thing is I used to live in Florida for 20 years. I see you're in Tallahasse. I was in the center part of the state in a town called Lakeland near Orlando and Tampa.
I move out here and you move to Florida. Now that's a switch.
Miss the flowers, grass and trees, but I don't miss the humidity!
And I really like the fact that it rains like 4 times a year!
One way to keep the car nice and clean!
