Engine miss or backfire?? Please HELP??
Engine miss or backfire?? Please HELP??
I have an 86 Iroc w/ a built 350 TPI. It has roller rockers and a few of them were loose so I adjusted them. The car runs great, but now at idle it seems to have what I would call a "miss". What I mean is that it almost drops in RPMs for like 1/2 a second. I can hear it out the exhaust but it is very hard to notice. Also when I am driving and take my foot off the gas it kind of pops out the exhaust but not loud. Could this be due to the rockers I adjusted, did I do something wrong?? Please help. I have headers w/ no cat and a flowmaster. Thanks

Did it start doing that after you did the adjustment? If so, you answered you own question.
Probally should go over all of them to make sure you don't have any to tight.

That is part of the problem, I'm not sure if it was doing this before or not. I know this sounds dumb but I don't really remember. My car seems to idle smoother now so maybe it is a little more noticeable. The other thing is it was the first time I ever adjusted rockers so I don't know if I did it right. It is supposed to be set at Zero Lash. Could you maybe explain the best way for a beginner to do it. Thanks for the help

To start loosen them all till they start ticking a little, (engine running) Then start one at a time and tighten them just until they stop ticking. I you tighten them too much your engine will try to stall.
Hope that helps.
That's how I do it. ( Don't mean its right though)
