Distributor looses spark on come cyl's

GF's 89 RS 350 TPI conversion has been running bad. We narrowed it down to a small miss. New EVERYTHING. I swapped in my Dis and it ran good. I then looked at her dis and although the PU coil is new, ign module new and cap and rotor is new, I knoticed on the inside of the cap i can see the nice thick spark marks on the terminals like normal but as i looked around the mark got thinner and thinner on 3 cyls and so it looks like thick, thick, thick, thinner, thinner, nothing, Thinner , thick. sorta like the dis is out of round or something. Any ideas? PU Coil tests in at .786 well within the .5 - 1.5 specs

Its bent, and/or someone tried to straighten it.

Had a friend bend it pulling one out and said it was "straight" when I aske dhim repeatedly.

We had a miss on #2 only. Was firing roughly half the time but header tube stayed warm, not hot to the touch.

Traced it down to exactly what u are describing and just ate it and swapped in a new distrib.

Problem solved.

The warped/bent allowed clearance to increase from rotor to cap and miss at the highest level #2 and made the misfire.
