how would this cam perform on a tpi car

Advertised duration: 292 intake/292 exhaust
Duration at .050 in. cam lift: 234 intake/234 exhaust
Gross valve lift: .488 in. intake/.488 in. exhaust
Lobe separation: 114 degrees

this is for a slightly ported tpi, possibly will be siamesed when i do the cam install. what do you think.

That's the same cam I'm going to run... Summit cam eh?

It's really big for a 350 TPI. I was told to use that cam because my compression is a little too high (11:1) and I need to bleed off some low rpm pressure to stay out of detonation. I'm also at 388 cubes.

Your going to need higher compression or it will be very soggy down low, need 3,000 stall and deeper gears. I'm going to go with a full siamese setup again since it worked great on my 'bird. 58mm throttle body and I'm going to have to work out the chip details...

Long tube runners are going to kill it though. Figure if you have 9.3:1 compression (stock) and long tube runners, the cam is going to kill the bottom end and the runners are going to choke the top...

Should be so-so in the low vacuum on a 388 is only around 10"Hg, so it will prolly be less in the 355. I would step down a size, but it's possible to run. In a 388 it makes around 450hp@5500 and about 470lbs-ft torque around 3,200rpm with a 'fair' idle (The 114LSA helps, but not much).

I can't tell you from the butt dyno since the motors installed on my back porch still...

I'd say it's too big. The computer definatly won't like it....I dunno if you could get it to run right even with custom chips..maybe.

Even if you could get it to run right...it's a bad mismatch. the effective RPM range on a cam like that is way to high for a TPI car. At a ballpark guess I'd say the powerband on that is about 4000-6500. TPI cars are dead by 4500...choose a cam with that in mind.

With a LSA as high as 114..it won't bleed off all that much pressure either.
