89 T/A GTA 5.7L TPI pouring out smoke

right now my car is haveing serious problems. when i start it up, the engine makes "chugging" noises and sounds like its gona die. if i put it in drive, when i step on the gas it surges forward like a rocket for half a second and then completely stops and surges forward again. it will continue doing this untill i take my foot off the gas. while doing this it is pouring out smoke non stop. its throwing no codes either. the car did this one morning, but i turned it off and started it and it worked ok. but now nothing helps it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you done anything to it recently? Where is the smoke coming from? Have you checked the timing? Vacuum leaks? Will it stall?

the smoke seems to come from everywhere, out the pipes and from somewhere around the engine. ive replaced all the intake manifold seals/gaskets and replaced the EGR, TPS, PCV, MAF+Relays, air filter, distributor cap and rotor, injecter O-rings(plus i cleaned them out), lots of hoses with new ones and that little black connecter tube thing that attaches to 3 different hoses(i cant rerember the name of it).

Is it using oil or coolant? What color is the smoke? If not it sounds like your computer is a vegtable. Either that or you have some really sticky injectors. You probably dont' want to think of this, but it sounds like your engine has died a horrible death.

try to fill her up with some injector cleaner.. Did u check the oil.. what color it is...if it´s gray the engine has a waterleak..And u should have white smoke.

It sounds like a bad vacuum leak if the idle surges and dies. Did you get all of the runners tight, all the vacuum lines connected? Did you touch the headers? Oil from your hands takes a long time to burn off. Does it smell sweet? That would indicate a coolant leak.. likely suspects would be the heater valve and possibly the intake manifold-tb-heater valve line, or the bypass if you have done that.

Have you adjusted the TPS? Is the black connector the heater valve(coolant?). That may be leaking. Or is it next to the egr valve? If it is, that may cause a vacuum leak, check to see if it is connected properly. Did you attach the small vacuum line to the nipple under the throttle body? Do you have the throttle body to charcoal canister hose connected properly? Does it have a kink?

well, you see... after i did ALL this work on the car, it ran ok for a few weeks. when i was driveing it to work yesterday, all of a sudden it lost all power, started surgeing and pouring out blueish gray smoke for no reason what so ever. ive checked everything on there, wires, gaskets, hoses and everything "appears" to be normal. someone in the chat room told me it sounds like a blown head gasket, but its not leaking any oil so i dunno.... my thoughts are the computer too, cause i had a code 33 problem that could not be fixed no matter what i replaced or adjusted. but if that computer is gone than i think id rather switch to carburated, because it would probly be cheaper to buy a new intake than a new ecm right? i hear you can get a decent edelbrock carburater for about 200 dollars, where as the ecm is like 800+

You have a vacumme leak. Chech gaskets in the Throttle body and check the IAC valve.

You say you have TPI? I have never heard a vacuume leak thru the plenum. just the thorottle body.

GOT error codes? no way.Maybe when it dies.or when driving.
