Gear ratio's, gear ratio's, gear ratio's...

86 Iroc, LB9 from the factory, 700R4, GM 10 bolt (as oppossed to the BW), anyone have a clue what gears do you think are in the rear? I would take the car for a drive, but it's not mine. This bone head ripped the engine out, and then asked me how he should build it. We decided on 4.10's, but too order the gears, I have to know what series carrier he has? I know it's a G80 car (like that was hard to figure out). Thanks..

Car: 1990 Pontiac Trans Am
Engine: 355 TPI siamesed runners
Transmission: Tremec T56
Axle/Gears: 12-Bolt 3.73
Could be 2.73's or 3.23's. If you can see the RPO sticker look for the other G codes and look them up in the RPO decoder on this site.

Thanks guys, it has the 3.23's. Looks like the original owner of this car gave it some good options, too bad no 5spd.

TPI, Posi, 3.23's, block warmer, oil cooler (didn't even know this was avaliable in 86!), so on and so forth.

I hope your going to run 1/8 mile if you plan on using 4.10 gears on a tpi.

granted you did not say you were going back with tpi and maybe i assumed wrong.

MiniRam + Direct port NOS eventually
for now....
LTR+Direct port NOS I just don't want to have to do a gear job twice, I hate the smell of that dif. fluid!
