new 58 cc heads on a motor that had 64 cc. will it hurt it

I have a motor with 6k miles on it with 64 cc heads and want to put some alluminum 58 cc heads on it, but I dont want it to start burning oil. I put some on a motor with 80 k on it once and had to rebuild the thing because it started burning oil badley. Anyone else had this problem.

Used to be common back in the old days to do a valve job and start using oil, I suppose worn cylinders and rings against higher vacuum and compression. With your engine fresh I'd sure think you'd have no problems with the swap.

The size of the chamber has nothing to do w/ why it it burning oil. Why did you put leaky heads on a motor?

the heads I put on it had been vacume cheched after they bad been rebuilt. I put them on and within 300 miles it started burning oil. They did have new positive seals also. Just dont want to run into that again. I have heard of otheres having this problem before but dont understand why it would happen.

More likely it was something that was or wasn't done when the heads were changed than changing the heads themselves. Like not properly cleaning the pistons/cylinders before putting the new heads on.

I changed heads at 141k miles, it's over 169k now. Oil comsumption has actually gone down.

i believe vaccum testing only relates to the relationship between the valves and their seats.nothing to do with valve guide clearances.unless the guides are severely worn.did you have the guides knurled or replaced?teflon seals definately use more oil than pc style or o-ring seals.

I was told teflon seals use less oil. In fact I was told that teflon seals actually seal to good and deprive the guide of lubrication. The guides were new.
