You should just be able to pull the intake manifold off and get to it

Cool, it really sucks to get through with something and then realize you have to go back

I did something similar to this... I had my distributor hold down clamp bolted onto my intake manifold so I wouldnt lose it, and time came to put the distributor back in, so I took the bolt out, and it fell out of my hand and down the distributor hole after I had everything hooked up to the engine!

Luckily, the cam gear and oil pump driveshaft caught it and I was able to get it with my magnetic retractable light tool... very useful, and very cheap considering it would have taken me atleast 8 hours to get the pan off, plus costs for new oil... so 15 dollars = lots cheaper than 30 in oil and 8 hours of labor (however much an hour I charge myself to work )

I actually have two pickup tools... they both save my *** ALL THE TIME!! One is a magnetic one... basically a 2-foot long coil with a 2" long magnetic stick at the end. Works great for picking stuff up off the ground and weird places. The other is a 2-foot long coil, but has a 3-prong claw that opens up when you push down the button on the other end. This thing is AMAZING for getting stuff dropped down into the engine, because it can grab pretty damn hard, and it is NOT magnetic... meaning its not bouncing around the block sticking to everything but what you want to pick up.

I suggest getting both. They save alot of sanity, and your neighbors hear fewer 4-letter words.

I have both those things and they are invaluable. They are awesome. I never lost a bolt into the engine yet tho. Hope I never do. I shouldn't even be thinking about this, got my self jinxed now. Next time I have an engine opened up, guess what's going to happen to me.
