that'd be blowby, caused by worn piston rings.

Does it also have blue smoke coming out of the tailpipes of the car?

Frankly if you have that much smoke coming out of your engine's crankcase then you've got a major problem... but if you have a big hole in your exhaust and when you get on it the smoke comes into the cabin that isnt AS big a deal... but still pretty bad.

There's some "ring seal-4-good" stuff that you can try that they sell at autozone. I believe that's the name of the product, but dont quote me... anywho, it's a really thick oil that's like honey, and it makes it harder for the rings to "blow by" since the oil should seal it up a little bit.

I'm assuming that you change the oil frequently? If you havent in a while you may want to switch to a higher mileage oil, that is created to help with the drawbacks of many years of running dyno oil... it's a little too late to put synthetic in now and not chance it.

ok so there's no holes in the exhaust, and, it doesn't smoke out of the pipes at all...so what would I be looking at for price to fix? the engine is out of a truck, and I was just wondering if I'd be better off tryin to find a 350 out of a camaro or other car, thus having different heads and cam and such, or be better off just to swap those onto this one? thanks for the quick reply

The fix would be to tear it down to a bare block, and have the machinist hot tank and magnaflux your block, then have it honed or bored out, then you'll need to get new pistons (all 8), new piston rings (this is your faulty part that is causing you to do a rebuild), and if you dont choose your pistons wisely (same weight as the stockers) then you'll need to have your crankshaft balanced.

And since you're doing that anyways, and you'll have pulled the crank you may as well put in new main and rod bearings....

so in short, it would probably be more worth your time and money to get another 350 from a Camaro or Corvette or anything else that is semi performance related....

Unless you want to build a motor exactly as you want it that is.

back the truck up!
are you using any kind of pcv system?is it functioning properly?
heck!a pcv valve is like 3 bucks these days!
is it oil smoke or water vapor?
could be a bad valve guide but i doubt it.you have a problem in the crankcase ventilation area!won't kill you or your motor,bu t it can get annoying!
