cam help please
I'm trying to decide on which cam to get. change lifters and rockers? it's a stock top and bottom l98, chipped, with headers and 3" exhaust all the way back. i might be swapping/porting the stock intake manifold, or atleast doing the runners but i'm looking for something with a lumpy idle that might also extend the power band a bit. thanks
If you change the cam, rocker arms are an inexpensive thing to get that will ensure you better performance and longevity. Just make sure you select the correct length pushrods.
Lifters are not necessary to change on a roller cam, but if yours are worn unevenly or sticking it may be good to replace them.
You will not get maximum performance, or likely even good performance, with a big cam and an off the shelf chip. You need a custom one burned.
You can do a search to find popular cams. What you should get really depends on how much further work you want to do. Check the tpi board too.

Something similar to the LT4 hot cam and it will lope and that would be about is big as u would want to go on stock heads. You would need to have chip burned for it to run properly.

yeah i dont plan on rebuilding the motor any time soon so i guess something like the lt4 hot cam would be good, any estimate on power gains with that cam or a similar one on my setup?

I would only expect 20-30 horse max. But even though that doesnt sound like a lot u will notice and u will enjoy it. A cam by itself really only does so much without heads. But u will really like how it sounds and it will give the car a new attitude.
