Serious ECM madness
Serious ECM madness
My friends 92 305 TPI has gone bezerk. Yesterday it died while driving, and since has only started, run rough for a second, and died. We were about to try pulling the codes when I noticed the wierdness. With the key in the on position (No ALDL ports jumped yet) the SES light flashed apparantly at random. Whenever the light flashed, several relays in the engine compartment clicked and one of the fans came on for a second. Is the ECM fried? Is there anything else that could possibly cause this?

The only thing i can come up with is having a bad/loose ground and/or a bad ecm. try checking all the underhood grounds. just my opinion.

The ECM problem you described is exactly similar to what I had not long ago and it took me a couple of days of stuffing around till I came up it was the ECM. The ECM is stuffed I can pretty much say it. If you decide to take it out unscrew the bolts on the cover and hook it up to your car and bend the board around see if the SES light stops flashing and relays stop clicking it did on mine. Bought new ECM and problem fixed!!
Looks like some soldering has come unstuck on the board and they are not easy to find, tried it and no luck.
