White smoke at startup. .. eh?
What are some reasons for this? Just a little gust of it on startup and nothing more. Stinks though, heh.

One known symptom of white smoke on start up is valve stem seals. When I had my 305 in my '88 it used to smoke on start ups, it had 150,000 miles on it, i figured it was time. Sure enough, that stopped the smoke. I work at a tranny/auto repair shop and I was able to fix them my self. It is not a job for someone without the proper tools and experience.

Mine did it with 34K miles. Valve stem seals did the trick. Hope this helps.

This is the Chevy trademark! Don't worry, 90% of them do it and it does not mean your engine is worn out. I still get 2000 miles to a quart of oil, which no one should ever complain about with a small block Chevy

Thats just Chevrolets way of getting EXTRA lubrication to the valve guides! LOL.
Not a big deal, its about $20 for new valve seals, but the PITA factor is a bit more.
