Removing my valve cover - HELP

I just did my header install and I was going to remove my valve cover to check things out and here is what I can not figure out. I have an 86 with the four small nuts on the outside of the cover and it uses the spreader under it. I removed all four nuts so there was only the post. I began to try to remove the cover and it won't budge. I was bending the edges trying to get it off. Am I missign something here, loosen four nuts and pull right?

That's all there is to it on my 86 LG4. Unless you have something on top of the cover getting in the way, I'd say you have a very stubborn, stuck on gasket.
