sparratic oil pressure reading.
ok when i first start my car is cold still and driving around its a good 55ish psi . after its warmed up it still stays around 35psi. but i noticed the other day when i floored it a few times that the psi dropped to 0 a few times then after i let off it slowly crawled back up to where its supposed to be. is this a glitch with the stock gauge or should i be cautious of something going on?

prolly the stock sender unit going out
but make sure first and get a real mechanical gauge in there just to double check.
usually the sender is near the oil filter from my experience on the thirdgen though might be a little different

My wife's s10 blazer used to do this. Meant is was 2 quarts low on oil. I agree with rx7speed about checking this with a mechanical gauge. If the oil level is ok and it does it with a mechanical gauge, the pickup might have come off the pump.

Yes, sucking air instead of pumping oil through the engine is bad. If you'd like I can send pictures of what was left of my cam and lifters after the screen broke off the pickup tube on my car.

A quart low shouldn't cause a problem.
