My 305 TPI runs like crap! :(
Hello all, I have a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA with a 305 TPI, all original with no modifications at all... Automatic transmission, 3.27 rear, all options except leather and the 350 TPI.
The problem is, when I give my car 1/2 to 3/4 of of the throttle, it shakes, like it doesn't have all the power... When I put the pedal to the floor, it shakes too, and become good after 1-3 seconds of flooring it... Sometimes when I keep it stomped for like 10 sec, it do it for 1-3 sec, became normal, beging to shake a again, normal.......

SebasIroc: I have changed the spark plugs and the spark plugs wire less than a year ago... Replaced my old ones with ACDelco... I also replaced the air filter also... But I never replaced the fuel filters. Maybe it's my problem?
Any other have ideas?

Fuel filter is too easy and cheap not to do. Do it, worth a shot.

Should I stick with an ACDelco fuel filter or get one at NAPA or another store like this?

ac delco is good but maybe more pricey than other.....I think its 5$ more than other so i would take Ac Delco. I dont know if you will change it by yourself......well if you do it about 20$ if a garage do it about 40-50$.

I took the GTA out today again... The problem is still there but less than the other time.
When I'm at a stop light, sometimes it do a little shake here and there, is it a miss? When I remove the foot from the brake and push the gas pedal, it shakes while accelerating. When I put it to the floor, sometimes it go like normal, sometimes it shakes a little and accelerate not as fast, became normal again, slow, fast, slow.......
What do you guys think it could be beside a bad fuel filter?

Fuel filters are dirt cheap and so easy to change it's not even funny. I've done one on my 94 Probe, on my dad's 94 Cavalier, and on my 91 Mustang...the Probe took the longest, at 40 mins cause I had to remove all the intake and some vacuum lines, etc. The Mustang, which is along the frame rail by the tank which Im sure is where the Camaro one is located....was 5 mins or less off and on. No kidding.

did you check to see that your spark plug boots are indeed on the spark plugs and posts?

I had the same issue: shaking when flooring it. It was the spark arcing onto the headers. Make sure that you didnt burn through any of your new wires. Check them in the dark!

i had same problem, my wires burned through and it was arcing on the headers. Check them all out REALLY carefully. You might also have bad spark plugs (i think someone said that already)
