cam problem

I have an 87 Trans Am 5.0L 4bbl. I do not know a lot about cars but I am trying to learn on this one. Anyway, A few months ago I decided to start a project where I would replace the headers, cam and carburetor (yes, pontiac made carbureted trans ams in 1987 contrary to popular belief). I have not gotten all of the parts yet but I did get the cam from Jegs. They told me I needed a hydraulic roller cam and so I bought one. Today, when I was trying to order the distributor they told me only the tpi's had roller cams. Does anybody know which cam I need?

If it is an '87 Chevrolet passenger car engine, it is supposed to have a roller cam and lifters. Strange things have happened, though. Some may have slipped through the cracks, but it isn't likely. If you remove a rocker cover and see self aligning rockers, theres a 99.99% chance you have a roller cam.
