ignition switch lock cylinder

I'm in the process of replacing my ignition switch. I'm having trouble getting the lock cylinder retaining screw in, is there some trick to this or something? This is the only part i can't get, it acts like its not lined up with the slot in the cylinder. Any and all help is appreciated.
