removing a/c?
ok i got my car with the a/c disconnected, the piping has been crudely cut up by where the coolant overfill resevoir was, but i think everything else is still there, plugged in and all. how do i go about removing this? loose ends i need to tie up or do i just unplug everything, unbolt it and pull it out? this is about 20-30 pounds right? on a side note, when i got the car, it had no coolant overfill resevoir, just has a plug on the tube that led to it. any idea why its like this, and could this maybe be why my car overheats like a sob? if im in stop and go traffic in summer heat, it will get to just below the red, i mean right on it, but it stays about 180-200 if im going over 40 or so. are the aftermarket resevoirs worth the coin or should i just go snag a stock one out of a salvage yard?
I can't help you with AC removal, but if you are overheating in traffic, I'd check to make sure that your fan switch is plugged in and working. It under your exhaust in the passenger side cylinder head between cylinders 6&8. Mine has a green wire going to it. Check the connections at your fan also. You can check the fan itself by grounding that wire and seeing if it comes on. Plugging the tube going to the coolant resevoir can't be a good idea. Your radiator cap should vent pressure between 12 and 14 psi, I believe. With that tube plugged, the pressure will build in your cooling system, potentially causing leaks by blowing a hose, or even the radiator or heater core. Get a tank from a junk yard if you want a cheap one, or an aftermarket one if you want it nice and clean.

well the fan is on a switch on my dash, i've got 2 but only 1 is hooked up, guy i got the car from said i could put in a bigger fuse and it would work but might "melt the switch"
it kept blowing 20 amp fuses when i hooked up both fans. maybe need to invest in a good fan? better to have one good one or two?

The two fans that you have can definitly get the job done if they are working properly. Check out the cooling board. Someone there can surely help you get your fans working correctly. Check and make sure that the answer isn't already in a sticky or faq or someone is sure to yell "SEARCH!"

for the ac removal, i did it a couple months ago. i took everything out, canister condenser piping all of that, just remember to vent all the pressure out before u do this, there is a schrader valve around the canister take the cap off of it and do like u would letting air out of a tire it just takes a lot longer than that, then just unbolt / plug everything and it will be good. here is a pic of what it will look like after u do that
